Back In Business - Kiale Dream and Other News

Posted by Unknown at Thursday, November 15, 2012 0 comments
Hello everyone. Sorry its been so long. I've had a few set backs the last few weeks that have placed a dent in the time I've had to write anything, far less blog.
I'm back at it though and damn, I've missed it.
So let's get straight to it.

Kiale Dream

Remember the first book in the Kiale Sons series, Kiale Dream? Here's a refresher in case you don't.

Chased from their home planet by a goddess bent on vengeance, demi-gods Ralden, Lee-vai and Micaiel escaped to earth only to find their survival depends on drinking human blood. Gifted with magical powers and a set of angel-like wings, the three have learned to hide in plain sight and after 1200 years, the eldest sibling, Ralden has found his mate in the form of one very stubborn earthling female, Zoey McKenna.
A dream walker, Zoey has had a very difficult life and is determined to protect her heart from further lose and pain. Convinced love is little more than fiction, she resists all Ralden's attempts to solidify their relationship but when her life is endangered, will this alien with the appetite of a vampire and the looks of an angel convince his mate to take a chance?

This book can be found at Red Sage, Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Kiale Dream has been entered in the You Gotta Read Reviews Cover contest at http://yougottaread.com/. It will be posted on November, 20, 2012 as #20 and voting is from November 21st to 26th. Please stop by to see what its all about. I would very much appreciate your vote.
We're not done with Kiale Dream as yet though. The first in the Kiale Sons Series will be featured in the center of http://www.theromancereviews.com/event.php party event page on December 5th. This will be a Q&A session so stop by and we can have a great time together. Also, on December 6th a Forum-styled CHAT is scheduled. I will be there for as much time as I can allot.

More Writing News

In other News, to get back into the spirit of writing, I've been working on a Christmas themed short story, Once Upon a December. It features Santa in a way you've never seen him before, a shape shifting hero trapped in an eternal winter wonderland, a grieving heroine in desperate need of the Christmas spirit and a disillusioned sorceress with a habit of overreacting. It will be released some time early in December. I still have some details to iron out concerning its cover and such but I will definitely keep you updated.

Thanks for sticking around and here's to a merry Christmas and a happy new years together!

Rebirth Excerpt

A gust blew through, swaying the trees to the left before they snapped back to the center to do a merry dance, hanging icicles reflecting white light. It became still once more but for the willowy pirouette of the falling snow and Mac's anger drained into nothing but a shameful chill as she acknowledged that her anger was directed at herself. Suddenly her retreat felt very cowardly, like she gave up a life so many would have fought to have, all because she was afraid to face the past. The rush of emotion Aiden’s presence brought made her realize just how dead she’d been inside, burying unresolved feelings, just as she’d done her entirely life.
Merely existing was far from living. Being alone in these mountains for so long had shown her the difference. For the first time in five years, she felt like more than just a shadow of her former self, more than just an empty existence. She felt connected to another being. A spark of life heated her cells and she felt rejuvenated.
“I’m sorry. I should not have taken my anger out on you,” she said, throwing a glance his way. “I’m not normally like this. At least not before…” she trailed off knowing she was about to reveal too much.
He acknowledged her apology with a nod. “We all have our moments.”
A companionable silence fell as they both looked into the wintery scene again. Shifting slightly she watched him from the corner of her eyes. He looked into the trees as well but instinct told her he was as aware of her as she was of him. He stroked her innate curiosity. With an enthusiasm she thought lost to her, she wanted to get to know him better. She wanted to know what made him different from everyone else. Well, apart from the obvious. There was a singularity that surrounded him like an invisible wall, making her wonder at his life. It seemed a very solitary way of being and that called to her. She understood loneliness, feeling like a tiny island in a vast ocean.
“You must be very lonely.” Her words clearly startled him. She startled herself with her forwardness.
He caught her gaze, the intensity making her breath come a little faster. “Why would you say that?”
“I image you don't have many friends.” What possessed her to say something like that? She scrambled to cover her careless words. “What I mean is, you probably don't tell many people about what you are. It must be hard living in the shadows.” She cringed internally. That sounded worse. “Oh no, I-” She trailed off before she dug a bigger hole for herself.
He did not answer but continued to look at her with a steady gaze that gave nothing of his thoughts away. “I'm sorry. I shouldn't have pried.” She dropped her gaze and pulled at a thread that was sticking out of her jeans.
“Not many people would look at my existence that way. Most people think it's a novelty, a privilege.” She looked up at his statement and his gaze was keen as ever. “In the beginning I did very much enjoy being humanity’s protector but things have changed. I’ve changed. Humanity’s changed.” He sighed wearily and admitted, “While I may not be very happy with the way things have turned out, I would not give it up. We don't all get to choose our destiny. We can only make the best of the path we’re given.”
“Yes,” she agreed. His words made her withdrawal seem all the more craven. His isolation was not of his choosing. Unlike her own.
“But it’s not all bad. I get to impress the ladies with all my pretty feathers,” he said, breaking into her depressing thoughts.  A smile stretched his lips and by all that made the world go ‘round, it was devastating. It softened the hardness that was part of him and made him look more approachable, sexier. She answered with one of her own. Satisfaction, and something else, heated his gaze.  “You have a beautiful smile, Mac.”
Just that easily the light camaraderie transformed into something hotter. She licked her lips nervously and uttered a soft, “Thank you.”
He followed the gesture with a predatory gleam. The arousal that flowed in a slow, deep ache suddenly flared out of control. His nostril flared and like a wild animal he sniffed the air. “You smell divine,” he growled and with a blink he was a fraction of an inch away.
Before she could react, he pulled her forward and pressed his lips against hers. She froze as shock gripped her, but not for long as his tongue gently licked the seam of her lips and all thought of resisting dissolved. She sighed as heat speared through her, molten and all-consuming.
Her eyes fluttered shut as he licked at her quaking lips again. He did not rush, did not press for a deeper contact, the kiss only a slow tasting, the effort clearly costing him in the sexual tension vibrating off him. Giving into the sensation she allowed lips to hesitantly close over his lower one. She did it again as her fingers tangled in his hair, the gloves preventing the contact she desired. He allowed her to explore, to familiarize herself with his taste, the firm texture of his upper lip contrasting with the surprising softness of the lower edge.
It was a chaste kiss. There was no tongue on tongue action just a simple touching of lips yet she squirmed as her clit burned for harder, more intimate contact. Remembering the incident in the kitchen, she pushed at his chest weakly and he let go instantly. Slowly her eyes opened to stared up into his glowing eyes. He took a step back, his breathing was as labored as hers, the air around him heated, and unbelievable steam did come off him.
She nearly giggled but sobered instantly. Men like him did not go for women like her. She swallowed. “I don’t need your pity.”
His grabbed her wrist and placed it over his over his swollen length. “I have been aching for you from the moment I laid eyes on you. You are beautiful, sexy as hell and it is all I can do not to strip your body bare and sink into you as deep as I can get.”
He fairly growled at her, his features hardening, his eyes perusing her length in her fashion that made her feel nude. That he could feel the same way that she did, even a fraction of it, was astonishing. “Oh.”
“Yeah, oh.”
She cleared her throat, a nervous action she could not prevent.
“You have to stop that unless you’re ready for the consequences.”
Stop what? Oh…
Her fingers were squeezing and releasing him rhythmically.
“Oh God, sorry. I’m sorry.” She felt color explode on her cheeks as she snatched her hand away, looking straight ahead only to be confronted with the perfection of his chest.
He chuckled and the sounded washed over her, deep and rough, like the man himself. It was the first time she heard him laugh and the sound pleased her more than she cared to admit. “No need to apologize. Let’s go in. You’re too tempting out here.”
“I’m just standing here.”
“Exactly.”

Rebirth Cover and Release Date

Posted by Unknown at Wednesday, July 18, 2012 0 comments

As promised I bring to you Rebirth's cover, a short blurb and synopsis. Rebirth started with a dream, the details of which I could not remember but for a small curvy woman with hurt in her eyes reaching for the legendary phoenix, dark and mysterious but battle scarred, surrounded by a snowy background.

The picture refused to leave my mind and so these two characters developed in my word processor shortly after. As I said before, this is a tale about finding the strength I believe we all possess to overcome past trials and tribulations and work towards a more fulling future. Ideally this a romance novel made spicier with a healthy doze of erotica.

The release date is slated for Wednesday 1st August 2012 and with that I leave you with the book description below. Look out for a sneak peek of the fire between the hero and heroine of Rebirth soon.

Short Book Description

The symbol of life after death, Aiden, is the legendary protector of humanity, the phoenix. Forced into the shadows by those he has sworn to protect, the beautiful savagery of the fire bird is only tampered by the promise of finding his true mate in one Mackenzie Blackhorn.

Mackenzie "Mac" Blackhorn is a woman alone atop the snowy Montana Mountains when she happens upon a man who pulls at the strings of her heart and the cords of a fiery passion long left unfulfilled. Not one to trust easily, this woman who hides from her past must find the courage to live and love again as time runs out for this couple.

But will their whirlpool romance survive the dark secret that Aiden harbors?

Announcing... Rebirth

Posted by Unknown at Sunday, July 15, 2012 0 comments
Odd fact of the day: I spent five, repeat, five hours searching for the perfect pair of shoes for my son yesterday. How it happened, I still have no idea but despite my aching feet, I would do it again. The shoes are that cute.

Since no one cares, I move onto the topic of this post; my new book, Rebirth featuring a reclusive heroine and the phoenix who is weary of his duty as humanity's protector.

Anyone who hasn't heard of the mythical phoenix must be living under a rock, which is no excuse since I'm pretty sure even worms have any an internet connection down there and know about the fire bird (and I'm not talking about Jean from X-Men).

But what does all the folklore say about the phoenix? Some say it burns to a crisp every 500-1000 years and rise anew from the ashes. Others say a completely new phoenix rises after the rebirth from an egg. Some say it looks like an eagle, others a peacock. There are legends of it's tears having the power to heal any ailment, that it has the power of the sun.

I knew next to nothing about the phoenix when I started Rebirth except it had pretty flaming feathers but with the ever resourceful Google at my fingertips I was bombarded with several theories on its existence.

Two pics show the difference in appearance according to different mythologies.

My brain had no space for all the he said and she said it louder so I created my own version of the creature, his name Aiden. Something about this name makes me think of sex and smooth hairless male chests. Therefore I shall insert a pic of one for no other reason.

To those who appreciate my effort, you're welcome. To those who don't, look closer.

Soo...
Where was I?
Oh yes... the phoenix. Who is he? Existing almost as long as the birth of the fist man, Aiden has seen it all and done it all but with his immortality comes a price; loneliness.

His search for the woman who makes his existence worthwhile is futile until he literally drops on Mackenzie "Mac" Blackhorn's door step.Emotionally scarred from her past, Mac has isolated herself atop the Montana Mountains accompanied only by her art. When Aiden comes into her life, she is forced out of her shell in the hottest way, the cold of the snowy mountain unable to compete with the heat these two generate.

Lest I give away the whole story I will stop here with this closing.

Rebirth is a tale about overcoming inner demons, triumphing over past hurts and embracing the future with arms wide open. It was written to show that all the crap throws my way, your way, the world's way can be taken and made into something beautiful and worth cherishing. Like the rebirth of a phoenix, humanity as one united race has the potential to rise from its challenges of like and become stronger and wiser.

Speed My Hero-Ralden from Kiale Sons 1: Kiale's Dream

Posted by Unknown at Tuesday, June 26, 2012 0 comments

This is as the title suggests, a speed date interview with Kiale Dream hero, Ralden Kiale. For the original squidoo post, click here.
I hope to the do the same for Neil from Neil's Fire but in the mean time, enjoy this yuumy specimen.

1) What do you do for work? Currently, I co-own a management consulting company with my brothers. It’s not the most exciting stuff but the money’s great. *Shrugs* Being immortal, I’ve tried just about everything.
2) Where are you from? Being an alien and all, pretty damn far away. *Chuckles*
3) What is the one thing about yourself that you would like me to know? I will do any and everything to protect those close to my heart.
4) When was your last relationship and how long did it last? Never settling in any one place for too long, I was not too big on relationships. Plus, I’ve got a shit load of baggage no sane woman would take on especially given the fact that my heart belongs to only woman. Until I met my mate, Zoey, female companionship never meant more than casual sex and a way to ease the loneliness time brought, the two not necessarily synonymous.
5) Do you want to marry or have you ever been married? Compared to the strength of a mate bond, a piece of paper is inconsequential but giving my lady the memory of a beautiful wedding is no hardship.
6) What do you do for fun? Tease Zoey until she sheds her tough chick exterior and smiles. *Shifts subtly and smiles* That woman’s smile does things to me you won’t imagine.
7) What are you most proud of? Surviving on this foreign planet without arousing too much suspicion.
8) Do you believe in love at first sight? Lust at first sight, no doubt. Love at first sight? No. Such a strong emotion depends on more than a first impression and a pretty face because let’s face it, hardly anyone says they fell in love at first sight with someone they didn’t consider attractive.
9) What is your most treasured possession and why? Material possessions are always replaceable. The only thing I truly treasure is my family.
10) What is your favorite music and who is your favorite singer/band? A few years ago I would have told you something like jazzy blues number, some Zen for relaxation but Zoey has infected me with her obsession with alternative rock. My favorite band is Linkin Park.
11) Do you like animals/keep pets? A few but they always gravitate to the animal sweet talker of the family, my brother Micaiel.
12) How do you spend your spare time? Plotting ways to break down the emotional walls Zoey has erected to protect her wounded heart. The woman is stubborn enough to make a mule envious but I am nothing if not persistent.
13) Where do you see yourself in five years time? In between making babies with Zoey and keeping my brothers out of troubles, practicing making more babies.
14) Do you believe a cup is half empty or half full? I’m a half full kind of guy.
15) You have got six months to live, what will you do first? I’d make beautiful love to Zoey. Then do it again and again until my last breath… But the question is moot since I’m immortal. Still plan on doing the same thing though.
16) Is sexual compatibility important to you? If any guys says it isn’t he’s a liar and I’m not a liar.
17) If you won a lottery, how would you spend your millions? I’d give it to someone less privileged. I’ve got millions to last me more than a few life times and can always make more if the need arises.
18) If you have friends coming over, what would you cook? I have quite a few friends and it does no good to have some of them in the same room at the same time, so I’d have to say it depends. If the vampires come over, they generally don’t show up on an empty stomach, while a few large steaks will do the trick with the wolves.
19) Describe your perfect vacation. There isn’t much of this planet I have not seen so location does not matter only that Zoey be at my side.
20) Are you a morning person or a night person? Night, definitely. The best things happen after dark but I do have to say, the morning does have a few perks. *Grins wickedly*
