EXCERPT
“Tonight was beautiful.” Her voice blended perfectly with the night, smooth with a sweet undertone that held sensual mysteries.
“The night isn’t over yet.” Far from it.
“It isn’t?
“Nope. The best part has not started yet.”
“Oh?” The coy performance contradicted the brazenly look in her eyes and the throbbing in his cock increased.
They stopped at a man-made pond. Lily pads
floated on the surface as a small stream of water poured into the pool.
The musical sound of frogs croaking and insects chirping filled the
air. The occasional flap of wings betrayed the presence of flying
wildlife.
He set her shoes down near the pond and
turned to her. The moonlight complimented her features perfectly. Her
hair was gathered into a complicated updo that gave her a sexy, just out
of bed look, making his fingers itch to destroy it. He longed to see
the tendrils cascading down her back, to feel them caressing his skin,
to watch them spread across his pillow. Her eyes looked up at him with
an interesting mixture of an innocence and trust and brazen. Her full
lower lip beckoned him and he could not resist. He leaned in and gently
sucked it into his mouth. She moaned and instantly relaxed against him.
He kept the kiss gentle even as his body, and hers, urged him to do
differently.
He pulled away. “There’s something I need to show you.”
She looked up at him inquiringly.
He started to unbutton his shirt.
She licked her lips and he laughed softly. The shirt dropped to the ground in a careless heap. “You wanted to know what I am.”
“And?”
“And I’m going to show you.” He closed his
eyes and envisioned his wings extending from his back. He felt the
slight pain as his skin parted to allow his wings passage. He heard
Zoey’s quick indrawn.
“Oh. My. God. Are these real? Oh God. Wow!”
Ralden opened his eyes to see an astounded
Zoey, her eyes glued to his wings, fascination filling them and
thankfully no fear. He stretched them before he allowed his dark gray
wings to skim the back of his knees. The top feathers ruffled in the
gentle breeze. Releasing his wings always brought a feeling of freedom.
“Oh my God, Ralden. You’re an angel.” Her voice was filled with wonder.
“I’m not an angel.” He understood why she
would compare him to one. The Kiale half-breeds looked exactly like what
humans thought to be angels. “I am Kiale.
